Why Your IT Is the Backbone of Everything You Build

If there is one truth I have learned over the past in business and technology, it is this: your IT is not an afterthought or a utility bill, it is the central nervous system of your entire business.

My name is Michele Wyatt. I was born and raised in Regina, Saskatchewan, and I am proud to officially launch RaeAligned Consulting.

To understand the foundation of RaeAligned Consulting, it helps to look at the journey behind it. Over the last 15 years in the IT and business sectors, my expertise has been deliberately built from the ground up. My early career was rooted in hands-on operations, providing frontline technical and customer support across high-volume, complex call center environments.

Experiencing those day-to-day operational realities firsthand gave me a deep, practical understanding of how heavily a workforce relies on its digital tools. As my career advanced into IT strategy, my focus shifted to the big picture, helping organizations plan multi-year technology roadmaps, align software investments with measurable business goals, and modernize their operations from the top down.

Because my background bridges both frontline execution and high-level technology strategy, I am able to view a business's IT landscape from every angle. Having sat on both sides of the table, I have noticed a recurring, costly pattern: businesses chronically under-prioritize their IT until something breaks.

The True Cost of Letting Systems Deteriorate

When technology is ignored, it doesn’t just sit quietly. It slowly decays. Workarounds become permanent habits. Duplicate software licenses stack up. Legacy tools get patch-job fixes. Eventually, leadership realizes things are falling apart and ends up spending tens of thousands of dollars in emergency fixes, rushed migrations, or consultants just to get back to baseline.'

Without strong systems and the right supporting tools, businesses stall. But technology shouldn’t be a reactive emergency expense. It should be a predictable, strategic asset designed to drive sustainable growth.

Technology Drives Your Culture—and Your Customer Experience

Technology is rarely just about technical performance; it directly drives human performance and shapes every single interaction your business has.

Internally, the tools your team relies on every day set the tone for your workplace culture. When your workforce is weighed down by clunky, broken systems, fatigue sets in, efficiency drops, and frustration boils over. But that internal friction doesn't stay hidden behind the scenes, your clients and customers feel it, too.

Think about walking into a retail store where a sluggish point-of-sale system causes painful delays at checkout, directly impacting the customer’s experience. Or consider a customer service environment where it takes an agent 20 minutes to navigate multiple clunky platforms just to capture the details of a five-minute phone call. That is a massive drain on your team's time, and worse, it forces your clients to sit on hold or wait for redundant forms to load while your team fights with the software.

Your customers expect seamless service; they do not want to wait around while your systems catch up. Your IT tools impact absolutely all aspects of your business. When you equip your team with systems that actually support them, you aren't just improving internal morale, you are empowering them to deliver faster, higher-quality service to your stakeholders. Prioritizing your IT strategy isn't just a technical exercise; it is a direct investment in your people, your client satisfaction, and your competitive edge.

I founded RaeAligned Consulting to bridge the gap between day-to-day operations and high-level business vision. Your business deserves tools that work as hard as you do.
